Downtown Cairo has undergone substantial changes throughout the years filled with political, cultural and social activity. The project assigned was to design a courthouse and office building complex on the site adjacent to the Azbakeyah Gardens- located in the Downtown area. 

After researching the historic significance of the area, the proposed design solution aims to accept the state of a heterotopic downtown. The complex consists of pockets of activity of a cultural and artistic nature, which aim to counteract the pressures often associated with entering governmental buildings.
